How to make this mojito recipe for camping:Okay here is what I do to enjoy mojitos while camping all summer long.

1. First I purchased this flat jug to mix the drink in and store in the camper fridge. This water jug from Amazon is similar to the one that I use. The unique shape is awesome for camping because it doesn’t take up as much space in the fridge or cooler as a traditional jug would.

2. Second I swapped 7UP for the simple syrup and club soda in the traditional recipe. It’s just easier to pack while camping and quicker to mix up. This jug holds about six 12 oz servings.

3. Place the limes and mint leaves in a cup and muddle them together. If you haven’t “muddled” you need to buy a muddler and “squash” the ingredients a bit, releasing the juices and fragrance.

4. Pour this into the jug. Sometimes I put the lime directly into the jug and sometimes I just put in the lime juice because the lime and fruit can clog the spout if you are not careful. If you leave the lime in the mixture too long it can also become very sour.

5. Add the remaining ingredients and chill. Serve over ice whenever possible.

This is delicious paired with my favorite Mint S’moreo, Campfire Dip or Spinach Dip camping recipes.

Ingredients:

  • 2L 7UP (or Sprite)
  • 2 limes, quartered
  • 20 mint leaves
  • 6 oz white rum
  • Fresh raspberries or blueberries (optional)

  • Prepare meals in advance at home whenever possible. Leave most of the mess at home where running water is more accessible and clean up is easier. Trust me on this one!

  • Use tinfoil packets, foil pie pans or camp cookers. These tools help to make clean up a breeze!
  • Pack ingredients in 1 gallon size freezer bags for flexible storage in small fridges and coolers.
