Food festivals, fairs and family days: Here are 13 of the best Brockton-area events (2024)

BROCKTON − Fall is right around the corner and the end of summer brings with it outdoor food festivals featuring homemade delicacies and plenty of family-fun activities.

There are many events set for throughout the Brockton area to look forward to in the coming months, from food festivals, to family fun days, to Renaissance Faires and agricultural celebrations.

Looking for events with delicious food and drink? These festivals have authentic Greek food, luscious Lebanese Food, and hearty chili and chowder, craft beers and smoothies.

Family-friendly activities like carnival games, face painting and pony rides will keep the kids busy.

Other entertainment will include live bands, dance performances and fire-eaters.

Attendees can also browse dozens of unique and beautiful creations by crafters and local artisans at these events.

The fun starts Labor Day weekend and continues throughout the month of September.

Here are 13 Brockton-area festivals and family days.

King Richard's Faire, Carver

King Richard's Faire - the biggest Renaissance fair on the South Shore – begins on Saturday, Aug. 31, and runs until Oct. 20. For more than four decades, the event has been a huge attraction for families and friends, giving people a taste of what it was like to live in the days of yore. It's where "visitors can enjoy a day filled with colorful performances by acrobats, aerialists, jugglers, fire-eaters, musicians, dancers, and puppeteers, all celebrating the spirit of the Renaissance," according to a statement from the event's organizers. The Renaissance festival located at 235 Main St. in Carver is operates from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Guests are encouraged to pre-purchase tickets online at kingrichardsfaire.net, so they may choose and secure the date of their visit.

4-H Fair, East Middleboro

The East Middleboro 4-H Fair will be held Labor Day weekend, Saturday, Aug. 31, from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. andSunday, Sept.1, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the East Middleboro 4-H Clubhouse, Route 105, 183 Thompson St. Local 4-H members will gather to showcase what they have accomplished during the year, from showing their animals to displaying their static exhibits. The fair is also a fundraiser, with all proceeds going directly to East Middleboro 4-H activities. Saturday afternoon will include the popular country auction, animal costume parade, followed by the tractor parade. The country store (rummage sale) and book tents are open throughout the fair and a variety of great food will be available. In the schoolhouse 4-H members display their many talents as they compete for ribbons. In the morning come for breakfast and stay to watch one of the many animal shows. Visit www.em4h.org

Fall Harvest Fest, West Bridgewater

The West Bridgewater Lions Club’s Fall Harvest Fest will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 14 on the grounds of Friendship Park and West Bridgewater Library. This is a free family-friendly event with music, food, children’s activities, vendors and raffles. Food vendors will include Tiki Turbo, 2 Go Box, Frontline Bakery and Black Hat Brew Works.

Annual Classic Car Show, Brockton

Heights Crossing will hold its annual Antique Auto and Classic Car Show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Heights Crossing Assisted Living and Compass Memory Support Neighborhood, 35 Christy's Place. Bring your antique, muscle or classic car and join in their 24th annual car show. There is no fee to enter your car; instead, it would be appreciated if you would donate to the Heights Crossing Cares - Walk for Alzheimer’s team. In addition to the car show,there will be raffles, T-shirts, food, live music and fun for the kids. Attendees are invited to bring a lawn chair to enjoy this family-friendly event. Sip & Stroll Harvest, Middleboro

Sip and Stroll: Harvest shopping event on will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept 14, at the Middleboro Town Hall on Nickerson Avenue, outside on the lawn. The event will feature 90 vendors, food trucks and local restaurants, The Bartending Service of New England, music, raffles, and face painting. Ayla Brown, a former American Idol finalist and former host on Country 102.5’s morning show, will be featured at the event. Brown will be selling her baby bibs that are hand cut and sewn at her house. Look for her at the Brown's Sewing Things booth.Admission is free. Proceeds benefit The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts.

Annual Lebanese Festival Weekend, Brockton

The annual Lebanese Festival at the Saint Theresa Maronite Church. 343 N. Main St., will be held on Friday, Sept. 20, from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.; Saturday, Sept. 21, from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 22, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a variety of Lebanese food, cash bar, music and dancing each day and more. Extra parking will be available at the Angelo Elementary School, 472 N. Main St. and at the old American Medical Response (AMR) Ambulance Center adjacent to the church's parking lot. Admission is free.

Greek Food Festival, Brockton

The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, at 457 Oak St., Brockton, will hold its annual Greek Food Festival starting Thursday, Sept. 19, through Sunday, Sept. 22, with authentic Greek food, traditional dance performances, music and more. The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Live music by Athenian Entertainment featuring Georgios Karatzas will be performed from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Fall Flea Market and Craft Fair, Marshfield

South Shore's largest Flea Market and Craft Fair is set for Sept. 15 at the Marshfield Fair Grounds, 140 Main St. Over 5,000 attend this fine exhibit of antiques, tools, furniture, collectables, crafts, food trucks and more. The East Bridgewater Business Association Business Expo & Family Fun Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, on Town Common with vendors, food trucks and free kids' activities. Brews & Bites Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival, Brockton

Brews + Bites Food Truck and Craft Beer Festival will be back Saturday, Sept. 28, from noon to 5 p.m. This family-fun day is complete with food trucks, craft beer and wine, live entertainment and more. There is no admission charge to attend; each food truck will price and serve their fare independently. Brews & Bites is dog friendly and will be held rain or shine.Plus, we will have covered seating available for attendees.Participating Breweries include 90+ Cellars and Brockton Beer Company. Food trucks will include La Qchara, Lady C & J Soul Food, Moyzilla, Mr. Frosty, The Chubby Chickpea and Work Hard Eat Good. Live music will be performed by Kooked Out. Autumn-Fest, Bridgewater

Autumn-Fest will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Bridgewater State University on the Boyden Hall Quad, 131 Summer St. Autumn-Fest, a fall tradition in Bridgewater for over 30 years, is attended annually by thousands of people. This year's event features a vendor fair, entertainment, food, music, and many fun activities for the kids, including a petting zoo, bouncy house, and train rides. Annual ChiliChowda Festival, East Bridgewater

TheEast Bridgewater Commercial Club is planning its 29th annualChiliChowda Festivalfor Saturday, Sept. 28, from noon to 6 p.m. Thousands are expected to show up for the event to enjoy live music, cold beer and, of course, amazing chili and chowder. Soule Homestead Harvest Fair, Middleboro

The annal Soule Homestead Harvest Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 46 Soule St., Middleboro.
