BMW CC iD DTC diagnostic trouble codes explained (2024)

Thanks to the efficient dynamics and automotive technology that all BMW engines are among the class leaders for fuel economy, emissions, and performance. Although some may consider BMW to be working perfect for all the times and not taking it as machinery, there are some common faults that every BMW driver come across one day or another.

As the car gets older, driver experience different warning messages, signs on faulty components, or simply check engine light related to different malfunctions, issues and errors in your vehicle. These alerts are shown on your dashboard and majority of warning messages are self explanatory but sometimes, you may not have clue for the exact malfunctioned component therefore, we have compiled a list of all those possible common (Check Control) CC iD codes a BMW driver might experience.

Familiarity with these trouble codes will help you identify not only the problem part but also a quick fix to most of the issues. It is important to do proper diagnostic first with an OBD-II scanner to exactly locate the fault, otherwise you won’t be able to fix BMW car. However, if you’re unsure on how to use and proceed with scanner then contacting your local garage might help you finding and removing these errors from your BMW car.

We’ve assigned four categories to these codes.

If your BMW experience any of the following error codes then there are issues with vehicle lighting for which bulb replacement is a simple solution. However, sometimes CANBus error codes might happen due to some other fault while the bulb is working fine such as upgrading halogen to LED bulb. But if you are unable to locate and access the bulb or not finding the clue to other than bulb fault then seek a professional help.

These errors relate to the performance of your battery such as low power, trickling power or frequent discharge of power or other faults. In such instances, using a battery pack to fully charge the battery is a quick help. Once you install a battery pack to recharge the battery, check if the error goes or you may simply use car battery tester. Most of BMWs require battery to be coded to the vehicle every time you change it with a new one.

* Sometimes a message “Battery Discharge Rate High” also calls for a simple coding and has nothing to do with checking battery anymore.

Tyre issues are mostly related to pressure which can be easily fixed. Because sometimes it is just the pressure which needs top up; or puncture that can be fixed easily without requiring a new tyre. However some issues might be difficult to understand and fix and demand a visit to the local garage. Common tyre related error codes are below:

Here is the list of all other codes, however, if your vehicle experiences any unusual code that doesn’t match up with any in this list then it is advisable that you refer to user manual or contact local garage and seek professional help to help you diagnose and fix the problem.
